Christmas Living Room

Good morning friends!  Thank you so much for joining us.  We cannot wait to show your our living room decked out for Christmas.

In this room I wanted to bring in more of the traditional Christmas colors that we’ve all grown up with.  Red, green, white, and silver dominate the color palate.

KV Chrismas

To give the tree a more relaxed feel I placed the tree in a vintage basket I found while thrifting.  Doing so is a great alternative to tree skirts that were placed around all of the other trees in the house and it gives the room and unexpected pop of rustic, cottage charm. I planned on using this colorways gallery knitted tree skirt around another tree here in the house but when I saw it paired with this tree I loved the softness it gave!

KV Chrismas

These Mr. and Mrs. Clause pillows by PocketFullofPaint.com bring that whimsical feeling of Christmas cheer to the space.  I love how they add little pops of color to our bright room.  We set the table with a more relaxed feel since this is the table we eat at every night.  I’ll be sharing more on this later.

KV Chrismas

This White Shanty designed barn door brings so much warmth and texture to the space.  It’s also highly functional too!  It allows us to close off this part of the house for a cozy movie night without waking up our girls.

KV Chrismas

This amazingly soft and warm blanket is made by Royal Scout and can be found here.

KV Chrismas

We love our King of Christmas trees and wreath.  I have to write that putting up Christmas trees is not at the top of my husband’s list of favorite things to do, but even he said these trees were easy to assemble.  He loved how they were so smartly designed that simply adding on the next layer of the tree connected the lights.  No 30 minute struggle to find cords buried in itchy faux pine branches.

KV Chrismas

This amazing chunky blanket is by Colorways Gallery

This view is my favorite in the room.  I love how the windows above create a picture canvas of the outdoors.  Since the room has all windows we don’t really have any place to hang artwork and I love how the windows bring in the constantly changing ‘artwork’ of mother nature.

And our Featured Guest: Beneath My Heart

Getting ready for Santa with Grandin Road

We are so excited for Christmas around here! The stockings are hung by the chimney with care, the trees are glowing and we have some pretty items that tie the space together from one of our favorite sponsors, Grandin Road, that we can’t wait to share!

img_4633

This year for our living room I really wanted a playful, relaxed, colorful vibe to greet Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick after he shimmied down the chimney.

img_4664

As soon as I spotted these pretty stools from Grandin Road I knew they would be the perfect spot to place Santa’s milk and cookie! I seriously love these quirky little Finn ottomans and the way the knitted top goes perfect with the carved wooden legs. They’re too sweet!

img_4658

Next I added these faux fur pillows from Frontgate, Grandin Road’s sister store. And you guys I can’t even put into words just how comfortable they are!! You know how some pillows LOOK good but that’s about it. Not these ones, they’re so soft and cozy I even took a nap here and slept on them. They’re up there with some of my favorite things!

img_4661

On the other side of the room we added this darling little acrylic and gold table. It’s darling and I love that the top comes off so that you can easily transport your hot cocoa to the coffee table across the room.

img_4662

These sweet light up trees gave our sideboard that whimsical, quirky feel I adore and I love that they tie in with our awesome sign above. (More details on that to come!)

img_4663And lastly, let’s talk about this faux fur rug. It is amazing! So soft and cozy and adds just the right amount of texture and warmth to the room.
img_4665

Christmas is such a magical time and I love that I am able to team up with such great sponsors to bring more warmth and magic to our home this season.

img_4666

As always, thank you for stopping by! We are so greatful for each and every one of you.

Please make sure to stop by these other talented ladies homes on the tour, trust me, you’ll be so happy you did!

Our Kindred Christmas Tablescape with Homegoods : a daylight view

Welcome back for part II of our Farmhouse Holiday Series Tablescape with Homegoods!

image

As promised on our last post here is a look at our tablescape with Homegoods this morning! I didn’t change a thing but I think it’s fun to show the space with two different personalities. One dark and moody, the other sweet and bright.

image

Like I mentioned earlier most everything was purchased at Homegoods! I can’t get enough of that store, and around Christmas it’s even worse! I can literally spend hours browsing and shopping through all their goodies!

image

These large Mercury glass candle sticks were the start of inspiration for the space. I knew I wanted to play around with rose gold and these were just the sort of thing I was looking for!

image

Next came the plate chargers, plates, wine glasses, wooden deer, metal ice bucket (used as a vase) and silver and rose gold trees. It was so fun shopping for these Homegoods items!

image

The chunky knit blanket is from Colorwaysgallery and it is just as fabulous as it looks!

image

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, just wait until I show you THESE Homegoods finds…

image

image

AHHHH! Yes! Both of these bookcases were found at Homegoods as well! This wall has always been a tough space for me to decorate since it is long and awkward but as soon as I spotted these bad boys I knew that was about to change!

image

I took out a few shelves for our Christmas decor which was also found at, you guessed it, Homegoods! These soldiers had me at hello, they’re just so cute!

image

I hope you have enjoyed our tablescape as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it!

(Gorgeous flocked Christmas tree is the Prince flocked from King Of Christmas.)

A Kindred Christmas with Homegoods

image

Welcome back to one of our favorite Holiday tours to date, The Farmhouse Holiday Series! Thank you for stopping by as we share our part I of Christmas tablescape with one of our favorite sponsors Homegoods!

Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series

Tablescapes are some of our very favorite things to create, and this one with one of our very favorite sponsors, Homegoods, is no exception!

image

Most everything you see from the wooden deer to the rose gold candle sticks were found at Homegoods!

image Now if you’re anything like me, it’s nearly impossible to pass by a Homegoods store and not stop in! Every single time it is a new adventure and you never quite know what you are going to find! Which makes shopping there more than half the fun!
image

This evening, I decided to share evening shots of our space to show off the pretty glow this room radiates at night. Everything from the crystal chandelier to the warm candles gives this room such a cozy feel! And at Christmas time especially, because once you add that glowing Christmas tree, it’s pure magic!

image

Mixing and matching textures and new items with the old is by far one of my favorite things to do when creating any space, and a tablescape is no exception! Don’t worry about following the “rules” when creating a space for the Holidays. Instead, follow this one rule of thumb and remember, as long as you adore it, that’s all that matters! Somehow staying true to YOUR style always helps a space to come together in the end!

image

Some of my favorite details of the tablescape are these rose gold plate chargers, this wooden and white woodland deer, the rose gold Mercury glass candle sticks as this rose gold crushed metal ice bucket, turned floral vase, all from you guessed it … Homegoods!
image

Thank you for stopping by! Make sure to check back the afternoon for a whole new take on this space in the daylight! It is just as magical, only with an entirely different feel! But right now, don’t forget to check out all of the other lovely bloggers participating in this tour below! Be prepared for endless inspiration!

Cozy Christmas Bedroom

Our bedroom just got a whole lot cozier!

Winter Bedroom

I am so happy that The Farmhouse Holiday Series is back! A few weeks ago we shared some of our favorite spaces decorated for fall and now that it is Novemeber we are kicking off the tour with our Christmas decor! Don’t worry, we still celebrate Thanksgiving around here, but ever since I was a kid we always had our Christmas tree up for our Thanksgiving dinner and that my friends is a tradition I’ve carried on, although not quite this early before! Hey, our posts will hopefully inspire you to create some cozy, Christmas spaces in your own home so why not share them a little early? 🙂

Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series

On the first stop in this cozy series we are sharing our bedroom reveal! And we are so blessed to have been able to team up with one of our favorite sponsors, Birchlane! I can’t wait to show you the item that inspired this entire room makeover! But first a little backstory on our bedroom!

To be completely honest, our bedroom was my least favorite room in our house. (Well bedsides the basement!)  It just never felt ‘complete’ and a huge reason is that I never was able to pick out the things I loved to complete it.

winter bedroom

Winter Bedroom

Upon moving in, we were (and still are) on a budget.  Given that we bought a fixer upper and have two kiddos, well, what do you think was the last priority when it came to decorating? If you’re like me, then you guessed our room. 😉 I’m not complaining at all, as a mama it is just how things worked out, and I got much more fulfilled by giving our girls their own dreamy rooms first. All that said, now it was our turn! And I was so excited!

Winter Bedroom

When we moved here two years ago, I honestly, just didn’t have time to think about it. Our room just was what it was: an awkward space that used to be an upstairs living room when we purchased our home.  We actually created our bedroom and the hallway outside of it when by adding walls to the space when we moved the stairway.  Our theory is that the previous owners moved the stairwell from its original (and current) position to create a mother-in-law unit upstairs.  Our room was actually the living area and the kitchen of this awkwardly laid two flat apartment.  Yes, we had two kitchens in our house, some days I wonder how we said yes to taking on this home when I think back to how it was! All that said, this month thanks to Birchlane, and the help of these terrific brands below I was able to change all of that and create a space we actually look forward to!

img_3992

img_4016

Winter Bedroom

Our closet used to be the only stairway entrance to the second floor apartment.  This was a winding, cramped, kind of creepy segue that was the first thing we decided on when we were faced with the overwhelming options of remodeling our house. Now it is a walk-in that isn’t complete but it is defintly better than it was! Although, we do have big plans for it, stay tuned!

Winter Bedroom

Winter Bedroom

In our previously decorated bedroom, I had bought an extra-large sleight bed off of craigslist that I loved but when it arrived it just wasn’t right. It was too big, too bulky and too masculine for our tiny room.  And although my husband wasn’t happy to have to move the 367 pound headboard down the stairs a year later, he quickly got over it when he saw our new Birchlane bed. 🙂

Winter Bedroom

That’s when this glorious Birchlane bed came to save the day!! I adored it from the moment I saw it! The creamy upholstery and beautiful shape was exactly what this room needed! We rearranged the room so that once you enter it, the bed is front and center and it sure is a show stopper! Once we replaced our old bed everything just seemed to make sense and I can’t tell you how much I love our new bed!

Winter Bedroom

After we rearranged the room to make it more welcoming I decided on this beautiful dresser. (More on that later!)  I love how the style compliments the room while allowing my husband to enjoy a masculine piece to offset his side of our otherwise soft room.

Winter Bedroom

Winter Bedroom

We added a rug, this amazing bedding, these pillows (more details on both of these to come!) We also added some Christmas decor and one of my favorites, this refinished this antique vanity (which was floral, green and in need of some of my hubby’s refinishing charm, it turned out amazing!). I am so proud of how our bedroom came together so beautifully!

Winter Bedroom

img_3999

I can honestly say, I really looked forward to coming home after trick or treating to this escape. As funny as that sounds it’s so true. (Being a blogger is quite ironic sometimes isn’t it?) I truly believe God made me one so that I could say I was actually early for once in my life! 😉  I mean, who else has Christmas decorations up in October? However, my kiddos don’t seem to mind one bit, they’re now asking me when trees are going up in their bedrooms, ha! (Here’s our oldest sweetie checking out the decor with her darling doll.)

Well folks that’s a wrap on our Christmas bedroom! As always, thank you so much for coming by. It means tons and tons to me to have you here. Xoxo Please check out the other taleted ladies below, you’ll be so happy you did!

Our Autumn Tablescape

imageThis post is sponsored by All Modern.

imageimage

I would just like to start out by saying this has to be one of the most fun tablescapes I’ve created. What started out as a $10 garage sale find transformed into a glam dinner party for the autumn season.

imageAbout a month ago my mother and I were at a garage sale when I found this beautiful 9 foot workbench. As soon as I spotted it I knew I had to have it. We brought it home, sanded it down, cleaned it up, stained it and whala, here it is now! I love the industrial metal legs paired with the farmhouse feel that the old wooden planks give the table. So when this opportunity arose for us to create a fall tablescape I without a doubt knew I wanted to use this workbench, turned farmhouse table, we had found. The warmth that it provides the space is everything that I could’ve wished for!

image

imageimage

When setting the table I wanted it to be warm and rich in fall colors but I also wanted it to have a glam factor. By adding in some of the mirrored trays that I have collected throughout the years it immediately did the trick! As soon as I laid them down the light they reflected and their daintiness up against the warm, rustic tones of the table immediately set the tone for the rest of the decor.

imageimageimage

image

In addition to the mirrored trays, I added in the dried hydrangeas in a copper pot, my fancy gold trimmed vintage glassware, and this amazing rose gold flatware set! It is weighted and completely gorgeous! I never knew how amazing having stunning flatware at a dinner setting could be!

imageimageimage

This gorgeous cowhide rug I found completely tied the entire look together. I cannot tell you how much I love it. I was under the impression it would come a with brown and cream tones and when it arrived my jaw literally dropped. Not only is the hide itself a soft cream but the speckles throughout are actually a rose gold tone that shimmer when the light hits. It’s beautiful.

imageimageimage

Thank you all for stopping by this morning! I hope you enjoyed our Autumn tablescape. Make sure to check out the other lovely bloggers involved in the Farmhouse Holiday Tour! I promise you, there is endless inspiration to come.

Cozying up for Fall: Our Living Room

Good morning, friends!

Welcome! I can hardly wait to share one of the coziest spots in our home today, our living room!

There are so many reasons why fall is one of my very favorite seasons.  The weather becomes crisp, the colors of nature begin to change to beautiful warm tones and it is the beginning of so many beautiful holidays to come.  Once September hits I am so ready to bring out the cozy knits, the faux fur, the plaid blankets and snuggle up on the couch with my family! That said, I am so happy to share our very favorite snuggle spot with you this morning, our living room.

img_1649-1

Since our living room has 17 windows and a french double door there is not much available wall space for décor.  The two walls without windows hold our television, our huge barn door and the vintage wardrobe.  So as you can imagine decorating in this room has to be kept minimal which actually doesn’t bother me at all. The windows in here allow me to decorate naturally as the seasons change by bringing the outdoors in with nature’s beautiful backdrop.

img_1692-1

img_1700

Watching the world around us change colors and textures is one of my very favorite things to witness and as I sit here typing the evening sunset is casting a golden glow on the world outdoors.  These are the kind of autumn nights I cherish most, the golden evenings where the warm sunshine floods our home just before slipping away for the day.

img_1671-1

Many of the tours I am in are photographed during the day but tonight, which will be last night by the time you read this :), the glow of the evening sun was just too perfect not to capture. I love evenings like this, evenings when we open the windows as the cool air fills our home and the sunshine casts the perfect shade of golden light throughout our home. It truly is breathtaking and makes me want to do nothing more than lite some candles, grab a cozy blanket and snuggle up on the couch with the ones I love.

img_1689-1

The windows in this room allow for so much natural color to fill the space so this fall I chose to decorate with subtle touches of autumn. Touches that compliment the gorgeous, colorful, outdoor canvas instead of competing with it. A few simple grocery store pumpkins, some warm candles, a cozy fur blanket and some freshly picked hydrangeas is all it took to transform this space from summer to fall.

img_1690-1

Picking fresh flowers and then arranging them into pretty centerpieces is one of my favorite things to do.  And these flowers make my heart sing, they’re perfection, and it’s even better that they were free. 😉 I love our neighborhood and the generous people we get to call neighbors.

img_1687Speaking of bringing the outdoors in, I seriously cannot get over the perfect shades of ivory, blush and green that these beauties have! And I love the warmth and texture they bring to the room. I plan to dry the hydrangeas out so that I can savor their antique floral tones throughout the season.

img_1645

Thank you all so much for visiting this morning, it was such a treat having you! Make sure to check out the other lovely ladies on today’s tour, you’ll be so happy you did.

And today’s featured guest – A burst of Beautiful

Our favorite fall treat

Good morning beauties!
I hope you have a hot cup of coffee, tea or apple cider, a pen and some paper handy so that you are nice and comfy and stay a while! The pen and paper, well I suggest having those around because trust me, once you begin reading you are going to want to take notes on this yummy treat!  These rose shaped apple tarts are amongst some of my favorite treats to bake, especially once the cooler weather starts rolling in. Crispy pie crust, warm apples, sweet jam and powdered sugar all rolled into a delicate rose shape? Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES, PLEASE!
8
I can barely wait to share more but first, I would like to thank sweet Kristin over at Ella Claire Inspired for inviting me to be a part of this special holiday tour.  A tour that is different than most, since it is one that shares small smidgets of the season, the ones we share with our loved ones during this cozy time. Our hope is that you feel as though you are here with us as we share these intimate moments with you, because after all, if we could have you over for a treat we most definitely would. xx
Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series
First I would like to talk about the setting of the space in which these yummy holiday treats can be served. Creating a space that is both warm and inviting is a goal I try to achieve throughout our entire home. In order to achieve this warm feeling of coziness it is important to pay special attention to those areas where people tend to gather most, you know, those spaces where many laughs and plenty of good conversation take place? Well, in our home, one of those gathering places is most definitely our dinning table, especially around the holidays!

1

Styling tables and creating cozy environments is one of my most favorite things to do!  I love to mix fancy elements with rustic ones every chance I get! For instance this old, worn farmhouse table paired with our fabulous chandelier is a prime example of my decorating style. Therefore, you can gather that it was second nature when styling our table to mix glamorous elements such as this beautiful, dainty gold ware with this big rustic, metal bucket. 🙂
13
I brought in soft natural tones through pumpkins, wheat and flowers in pale greens, whites and oranges. Then added in layers with a lace table cloth (psst, it’s actually an ikea curtain panel folded in half!), some vintage gold ware and glassware, some candle stick holders mixed in silvers, woods and glass tones and one of my most cherished decorations of all, that lovely white lantern from one of my favorite online retailers, Painted Fox! Isn’t it just gorgeous?! See our shoppee page to find more details about them!
7
In addition, I also wanted to bring warmth and fun to each place setting by showcasing my passions for crafting, baking and most of all, my love for desserts! I thought it would be fun to adorn each setting with a homemade apple rose tart, baked with love by yours truly, so that’s exactly what I did! These apple tarts are incredible and seriously ya’ll, they’re so simple to make! Trust me, I may be known somewhat for my decorating but not so much for my cooking/baking. Ha!
You can see the tutorial I used for the apple roses here.
FullSizeRender
In addition to this pretty single served dessert, guests will be welcomed at their place setting with a fun, quirky message. When I came across the phrase, “Life is too short, eat dessert first” it brought a huge smile to my face and I instantly knew this was the perfect quote for me! These DIY placemats were so easy to make and I just love the way they turned out! I simply bought some pre-cut burlap sheets from the scrap book section at Hobby Lobby and hand stamped the quirky quote. Easy peasy and oh so cute!
9

That friends is a wrap! I hope you enjoyed day one of our Farmhouse Holiday Tour!  If I can leave you with a piece of advice this season, one that I live by in my own home, I would say to choose pieces from your dining table all the way down to the treats you prepare, that truly represent you and your family. Whether you are decorating your entire home or baking a warm treat for the ones you love, my motto is as long as you love what you are creating, the environment will truly represent you! And what better way to greet the guests you love into your home than with the things you love? Can I get an Amen?! 🙂 Happy decorating and happy Holidays, friends!

3

Thank you again for stopping by, it was a pleasure having you!
Also a humble thank YOU for joining in the Farmhouse Holiday Series fun, I hope you enjoyed it and even more I hope that you felt right at home.  Please mark your calendars for the other tour dates (mentioned at the beginning of the post) we would be so honored to have you join us as the tour continues!  Now don’t forget to check out the super talented bloggers below who made this wonderful opportunity possible.
Enjoy! xoxo

PS If you are a regular Kindred Vintage Co follower you may have noticed that a post similar to this one was shared last year.  This is not the post I intended on sharing today, however, both of my daughters’ and husband came down sick this weekend just as I was scheduled to photograph my new blog material. I still plan on blogging that intended recipe along with our kitchen soon but in the meantime the wonderful women involved in this tour were gracious enough to let me use what I had for the time being.  The world needs more uplifting, talented, caring and understanding women who share a positive voice just like the ones listed below, and from the bottom of my heart, I mean that. xo

A Dream Sectional for Our Dream Room

image

A few months ago when we finished up our new sunroom/ family room I was so excited with the finished product although I’m glad for the construction to be completed. The process was fun yet tedious since I was able to design the entire room from scratch, a challenge that was both exciting and intimidating! I worked with an architect and a contractor to bring my vision to life and I am so pleased with the way it turned out! Choosing everything from the maple floors, to the sixteen large windows, from the double French doors, to the planked tongue and groove ceiling, you name it, I had a hand in it. When it came time for us to inspect the final product we were so pleased. It was totally a space to be proud of! But more so than being pretty it was a space that fit our family’s needs; a space that was bigger than style, because it was a space that was ours, it reflected us, it was home.

image

After all the dust cleared I couldn’t wait to start the really fun stuff, the stuff that makes my heart race – you guessed it, it was time to decorate! Since this room is the biggest and brightest in the house I knew it would be the most used. I decided to split the room into two separate sections. One section with a farmhouse table for casual everyday dining and one section with a couch and television to use as our family room.

image

The farmhouse table was a craigslist find from the cutest little town just a few miles away. Once we refinished it it was a perfect addition to the space. The metal chairs are from Restoration Hardware and the bench is actually an old church pew my husband painted from a thrift shop. That part of the room came together fairly easily so now it was time to move onto the family room portion!

image

This part did not come along so easily for me! I actually dreaded it. I had so many ideas in my head of what the space should be, but after several attempts, buying and selling furniture that was great but that just wasn’t quite right for the space, I finally sat back and focused on what it was I truly wanted out of the space. And it didn’t take long to come up with the answer, I wanted stylish comfort! Comfort being the key word here. My husband was not a fan of the IKEA kivik couch we had in the space. He would mumble every time he sat down to watch television that it wasn’t comfortable enough, but if it made me happy he didn’t care, even though he mumbled his opinions nonetheless. Sneaky, sneaky! I personally don’t watch television all that often so a couch wasn’t high up on my priority list. That is until the rest of the room started coming together. We found an amazing coffee table from Anthropologie, a comfy rug from Rugs USA, and we moved a gifted TV console from my childhood home into the space. It all flowed so beautifully, everything felt like home – that was except for the couch. All of a sudden that grey couch we had was all I could see in the room, and not in a good way either. It didn’t take much convincing my husband that the search for the PERFECT sectional was on!

image

This is when I came across Jonathan Louis Furniture! I researched the company and loved what I learned! Jonathan Louis Furniture started with a dream in 1985 to create a fine furniture line that would inspire people to use colors, styles and fabrics to transform their rooms. Today, Jonathan Louis is a family-owned and operated business that’s an internationally known fashion-forward brand for home expression. They take pride in offering artfully designed furniture that reflects today’s lifestyle and delivers exceptional value.

image

Jonathan Louis Furniture is a boutique firm that may be new to you; however, you have most likely seen or heard of their furnishings through places like Macy’s and Z-Gallerie, or local retailers like Roy’s Furniture and Steinhafel’s if you live here in Illinois. You can find a retailer near you by checking out their Dealer Locator. When it came time to choose the perfect style for our family room, I decided on the Pia Sectional with a removable ottoman. We love swapping out the coffee table for our ottoman during movie nights. It’s much more comfortable to rest your legs upon the soft velvety fabric when you’re getting nice and cozy! Did I mention, since we have had this couch I now love watching television in here?! I went from a non TV watcher to someone who loves a good movie, and even if the television is off, this couch is where you will find me snuggled up with the family most every night! Now back to how I came to know that this sectional was the one for us.

image

The moment I took one look at the Pia sectional from Jonathan Louis Furniture I knew I had found our dream couch and that the search was over! When I spotted this structured, sophisticated, chic sectional with clean lines, deep seats (which is so important when your husband is 6’2) and soft comfortable cushions, I was sold!

image

I ordered several fabric swatches to our home so that I could physically hold them up in our space and compare the swatches to our existing furniture and paint. The process was incredibly easy as the swatches came very quickly, which allowed me to get to work right away 🙂 Out of the swatches I instantly fell for the Bella Beach fabric, which is a soft, warm, velvety cream, that complimented the room perfectly.  Within weeks our dream sectional showed up at our door. I could hardly wait for it to be set up! As soon as the packaging came off I was instantly giddy with excitement!

image

The fabric on the sectional was even more beautiful and bright. And the frame was even more classy and elegant than I had imagined! Now for the real test, was it comfortable? Before I could even get the last few cushions on our two girls came running into the room and jumped onto the couch, immediately sprawled out and shouted, “Mommy, this is the BEST couch ever! It’s so soft and comfy, cozy, we love it!! Let’s not get rid of this one okay, Mommy?!” My husband and I quickly joined my girls on the couch and consensus was reached! This sectional is nothing short of amazing and it is oh so comfortable!

image

Now back to my girls’ comment for a moment, do you think they’ve caught onto how much I love rearranging and switching things around here?! Haha! However on that note, one things for sure and that is, this Jonathan Louis sectional is here to stay!

Today we are happy to share with you two rooms in our home that we have been busy updating.  This tour was the perfect opportunity to show off the changes in these spaces that have quickly became some of our favorite places to lounge this summer!  Gorgeous Little Houses pillow by Aedriel, you can find it here!

First off, our brand new sunroom/family room.  About 9 months ago we had the unfortunate event happen, where a large city tree fell onto our newly renovated home.  When all was said and done, this situation quickly became a big blessing in disguise!  It gave us the opportunity to create one room in our home from scratch. Given that our home was built in 1921, we kept most all of its old world character aside from the kitchen and stairs, therefore, that meant most of the updates were purely cosmetic.  So I can’t tell you how happy I was to create this room for our family and now that it is complete I am even more in love with it than I had imagined I would be!

We recently picked out this gorgeous, channeled blown fiber cushions that emulate a relaxed feather and down seat for the ultimate plush sectional from Jonathan Louis Furniture, and we could not be happier with it! (more on this later!) We loved the clean lines and chic look so the search for the perfect side table was on! Needless to say, I knew exactly what I would be searching for with my Birchlane gift card, and when I spotted this beauty I knew it was the one!

Some features I like best about the Harlan side table are the clean lines and modern style. It is classy and elegant but also simple and sleek which was very important to me since our coffee table is a huge statement piece in the room. I am so pleased with the way the two tables work together and compliment one another instead of competing for attention.

I also love that the side table is tall enough to store items under!  And well since this is a summer home tour I figured what better to showcase under our glass table top than some summer blooms!

Speaking of blooms, I chose these ones especially to match our lovely new pillows from Jolie Marche!! Aren’t they simply breathtaking??!  I can’t get enough, I adore her prints so much I want them in every single room!  Not to mention, they are such great quality.  Bringing fresh, fun patterns into the space really lightened it up and gave it an overall sense of summer that makes me so happy!

Our Anthropologie drum shaped – coffee table is complete with unique metal accents that add unexpected charm to the room.  It is one of my all time favorite pieces! You can also find the braided, wool rug here.

Recently my mother gave me this planters hutch from my childhood home.  It means so much to me that I now have a piece of my home then in my home now.  This hutch is gorgeous and although it isn’t your traditional tv console I think its perfect! Now all we need is a new television! 😉

Across the room we have a farmhouse table we recently refinished that we use for casual, everyday dining.  I love that we now have a space to gather to eat, play games or have a girls’ night with friends that is separate from the rest of our home.  All we have to do is pull the barn door closed and whala an instant sound barrier for sleeping babies!  It’s the little things. 🙂

Beautiful barn door is from White Shanty Designs.  Handmade and handcrafted in the USA with such great craftsmanship!

Next on our summer tour is the playroom!

We have several fun new items in here that complete the room, one of them being this beautiful handmade hammock from HammockChair.eu.  It is the perfect lounging spot for our three and five year old daughters and it is so spacious that they both climb up and swing together!  It is also the best nook for mom and dad to read stories to the littles!  We can’t say enough good things about it!

During the playroom makeover one of my goals was to find toy organizers that were not only easy on the eyes but also functional!  I cannot tell you how many ways I have tried to keep this space tidy with bins and chests that simply didn’t work.  These toy organizers from Ikea have been a major game changer!  The top bins are used for craft supplies, paints and markers, you know the things we try to keep out of little hands reach without adult supervision! And the bottom bins are those that the girls’ can easily pick up their toys after play and toss them back where they belong.  (Now if I could only get them to do that we would be set! haha!)

The darling Farytale pictures are from Dear Lillie and we adore them! The storyline is written by Jamie at Bluestonehill and illustrated by Lucy at Craftberry Bush.  What a talented bunch of ladies’ right there!  I looked and looked for art work for this room that complimented the mural and came up short every time!  That is until I saw these sweet prints and instantly fell in love with not only their look but their whimsical message!

To give these Ikea organizers a bit of flair we used furniture legs made especially for Ikea pieces from Prettypegs.  They were so easy to install, such great quailty and they look terrific!

We loved having you this morning and we hope you enjoyed visiting just as much!  Now I am off to grab some coffee and join some little girls in the hammock swing! Wishing you a blessed day! xoxo
