Our Patio Makeover

Hi there guys!

If you’re visiting from DearLillie then you know that this patio tour is full of amazing ladies’ work!  DearLillie is my very first blog-crush.  I’ve been following her for years now and she was actually my inspiration to start Instagram and this blog.  I am so honored to be invited to join a tour with her, as well as all these other incredible ladies, including our incredibly talented host Kristen from Ella Claire Blog.  If you’re visiting me from her blog and you know exactly what I mean.  I have to admit that I am a bit intimidated to be wrapping up this tour but I hope though that you’ve enjoyed this journey just as much as I have!  I’m so glad you’re here.

kindred vintage patio makeoverAs I type this I am so happy and so honored to be participating in this incredible tour! A bit of a back-flash for ya, when I was offered this opportunity I was shopping in Whole Foods and as I checked the message, I held in my excitement for .2 seconds and then began to jump around the produce isle for a good minute. THRILLED is an understatement! Of course I jumped (literally) at the chance to participate in anything that included one of my all time favorite shops, Joss and Main, (insert a huge happy dance) and then on top of it, I learned it would be featured by Country Living?! Hold the phone, I may have slightly fainted right about then. However, above and beyond … I was so very humbled and honored by my peers to have been thought of by those I look up to and adore. This may sound silly, but yep, that was me in that moment, completely glad. Every single one of these ladies rock and I am honored I get to participate in a tour with them. Now enough of my blabbing and onto what you came here for, the tour!

Summer Patio Makeover Tour

Now no reveal is complete without a nasty before right??! So, in that case, promise you won’t judge me when you see it? Haha!! We moved into our home less than two years ago and although I have yet to reveal the ‘before’ shots of our home, just one look at these outdoor shots and you’ll get a smidgen of what our home looked like when we bought it! ? Yup, it was bad.

I took our old cracked concrete and made it beautiful in the most budget friendly manner possible.  The solution we ended up using was painting it!  Since we wanted to bring my personality for vintage decorating outdoors I teamed up with Royal Stencils.  Don’t worry, I’ll be providing more details about this amazing collaboration later on, so be sure to check back!

And one up close!

kindred vintage patio makeoverWhen the opportunity arose for this tour, I knew we had to not only transform our old broken up red, concrete patio but the area I wanted to also use and take advantage of was the empty space between the back of our garage and our neighbors. Our home was built in 1920 so the fact that our garage was built with 15 of clearance feet behind itself and our neighbors property line is a bit confusing, but acceptable. We are in the Chicagoland area so everything counts! 😉

kindred vintage patio makeover

Our garage is an old brick beauty with two barn doors and a ton of charm, so it was actually one of the selling points for our home!! But even better, behind it stands another beauty just like it, a sister structure. The space between was covered in debris and sticks so naturally when we moved in we used it for storage and two months ago it was time for a change. We cleared the area, tilled the land and then laid down limestone to make the space usable for gatherings. From there we picked these gorgeous seating areas from Joss and Main and I couldn’t be more pleased with them!

kindred vintage patio makeover

These Ikea patio dividers were a lifesaver.  My wonderful husband rigged them to the height we needed and I love how they makes the very space private without being gaudy.  🙂

kindred vintage patio makeover

Another thing I did was bring out our vintage!  We had this bakers table that I bought for our kitchen but unfortunately didn’t end up working.  The metal drop drawers instantly gave me the idea of a cooler for fun beverages and so we ran with it! I love the way it looks for summertime fiestas, and it’s so practical!! A win, win for us!

kindred vintage patio makeover

kindred vintage patio

I knew from the start that I wanted to make a special place for our girls to play.  They love the outdoors and if I was creating an environment that I wanted to enjoy, I wanted one for them to enjoy as well.  Our whole family adores the way this little area turned out and the charm this Joss and Main playhouse adds to the space.  We put the playhouse up on a platform so that the door opens without dragging the mulch around and to give a sturdy surface for them to play on.  Lastly, I really like how the two areas are separated by a stone path or as my girls describe it “a safe path over lava”.  This gives the girls a place to imagine and create where we can oversee them from our patio getaway.

kindred vintage patio makeover

When I was little I would lay out in the grass on a sunny day, close my eyes, listen to the nature around me and pretend that I was in my very own secret garden. I pictured how beautiful and serene it would be in my daydream and as I became an adult I longed to have my very own escape. Being a part of this tour with Joss and Main has allowed me to create my very own secret garden. The way their comfortable seating and pretty accents have allowed us to create a serene space for our family to enjoy and escape the every day bustle of life is priceless. Thank you Joss and Main for giving us a reason to enjoy the outdoors with our children, just like I did as a little girl.

kindred vintage patio makeover

Also, I really wanted this Joss and Main experience to be enjoyed by everyone in my family.  So I made sure that a grill was included.  After all, my husband put so much work in to this makeover he deserved a big juicy steak as a reward. :)

While shopping for complimentary accents for the space I was at HomeGoods and discovered a sign that screamed summer to me.  The ‘No Wake Zone’ saying immediately brought me back to carefree summers on our Florida beach vacations.  As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to incorporate it into our outdoor space.  At the time though, I didn’t know just how much of a statement piece it would be.

kindred vintage patio makeover

On that note, I think someone needs to remind this Chicago girl that the “No
Wake Zone” refers to boat-created waves and not a literal invitation to go to sleep.  🙂

Our Farmhouse Table Transformation

Hello Friends!!

Happy Wednesday!

Today, I want to share with you our new-to-us, 7ft, pine farmhouse table! After months of searching for the right table for our new room, and several different table and couch tries that unfortunately were just not right for the space, I finally found this gem after scouring Craigslist for months! As soon as I saw it I just new it was the one for us!

FullSizeRender-8

It is a true antique, purchased by the previous owner from the Merchandise Mart, and if you are familiar with this venue at all, lets just say, they sell the best of the best and it doesn’t come at a cheap price! It was brought there from an old farmhouse, loved for many years and now its ours to love and I’m thrilled! I am so lucky to have found it for a fraction of the price on Craigslist, don’t you just love being thrifty?!

FullSizeRender-14

When I came across the photos online I loved most all of it BUT the yellow tone of the pine wood. I knew right away that is the one thing I would change once I got it home.  I wanted it lighter but I didn’t want to paint it so that is when I turned to the professionals, and Laura from The Ironstone Nest is a genius when it comes to making over furniture!

kv farmhouse table

I met Laura a few years ago at one of the first vintage markets I had a booth at. Laura was instantly warm and inviting and as she showcased her techniques using Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint her talent was just as amazing as her personality! I knew she would have the perfect suggestion for what product to use on the table and just as expected, she did! She walked me through what products would be best, and was there to answer any questions I had. We ended up deciding on THIS white wax and I couldn’t be happier with the results!
After using a hand sander to sand down the table, I added some white wax ta a soft cloth and rubbed it onto the raw wood. After letting it dry for about 5 minutes I buffed it with a clean cloth and then cleaned brushed it with some warm soap and water! It was so easy and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the finished results!

I forgot to snap a picture of applying the white wax but it really was as simple as it sounds! Here is the end result, after wiping off the wax, when I clean brushed the table with soap and water…

kv farmhouse table

And for comparisons sake, here is a drawer from the table, AFTER I sanded it but BEFORE I applied the white wax…pretty amazing, right?

kv farmhouse table

I am so happy with how it turned out and I am so incredibly grateful to Laura for all her advice and direction! If you’re looking to refinish anything, trust me she’s your gal! You can find her contact information HERE!

Here is our table now! I am so happy with it!

Thanks for reading along, let me know if you have any questions! xoxokv farmhouse table

Your questions, Our answers!

kindred vintage co

Hey friends!!

I just wanted to start off by saying you all are amazing. Seriously.  If it weren’t for you and your love and your support there would be no such thing as Kindred Vintage & Co. It’s as simple as that. Your kindness and support mean the world to us and for that we are beyond grateful.

For those of you who may be visiting for the first time I want to introduce myself. I, Susan, am the voice behind the Kindred Vintage & Co. account but that said, I am not Kindred Vintage & Co. I often find myself referring to Kindred Vintage as though I am speaking for a team and that is because that is what we are.  None of this would be capable without the love, support, guidance, patience and encouragement from my husband and my two daughters.  They are my life, my main inspirations and I am who I am because of them.

kindred vintage coI wanted to put up a blog post today for a few reasons.  As I sit here, baggy eyed, sleep deprived, and covered in temporary princess tattoos I had a few things on my heart that I wanted to share.  First off, many of you know me from Instagram since it is where we started sharing our home.  Instagram is the place that is comfortable, the place that we have made so many friendships and since I am new to blogging and all logistics that go along with it, I have been intimidated to us it as often as I desire. All that said, I am so excited for this blogging journey that has only just began for us!  I want to let you know that I will now be using this blog a lot more often! It is my goal to make this little space on the web one that I love just as much, so I am aiming for a weekly blog post.  One that shares home decor, DIY projects, our inspirations, giveaways, products we love, family and just whatever is on my mind.  It is my goal to make this space feel like home, a place where I can just be me, and if that includes posting a makeup less picture, or a goofball video, so be it! 😉 And now am throwing this goal out there in the open, to be held somewhat accountable! ha! 😉 So if you would like to subscribe to our blog, all you need to do is enter your email into the “inbox inspiration” section on the sidebar, we would love to have you!!

Next, I want to address the issue that I am sure you are reading about on many Instagram posts today, the fact that Instagram is changing the way that you are able to view your feed. I am honestly a little sad that this is happening, because I love the way things are now but at the same time it is what it is.  Nothing little ol’ me says or does will be able to change it. So in order to continue seeing our insta feed, just make sure to like photos and chat with us!  We love hearing from you!! So all in all, although change can be scary, I am trying my best to embrace this change and instead use this experience to grow other areas of Kindred Vintage & Co. that have been neglected. Hence this blog, Pinterest, Facebook, and who knows I may even dive into some Snapchat someday?! (We haven’t used it officially yet, only have taken screen shots of ourselves as the Easter bunny, with no makeup, some bed-head-hair and wearing pjs, you know the important stuff, but our name is kindred vintage if you would like to follow along!! That way once we get up and running, you’ll be sure to know!)

kindred vintage co

(Yes, that is the same person as above, only this is how I look without makeup, aka, how I look almost every single day! So you’re welcome for that! haha!)

If you are visiting from Instagram, you read that I only NOW just discovered a way to reply to a bunch of your questions! A way that makes sense, that won’t eat up an hour of our day and one that actually works.  It isn’t new news to most anyone but me (that should tell you how up to date I am with technology, haha) so all that said, sorry for missing a lot your questions.  I am human so I am bound to miss more, but at least now I know a way to avoid missing a majority of them!

Okay so last but not least, here is the question-answer potion of this post! Because I have missed some questions I thought this would be a fun way to answer them! So go ahead and ask me any questions you may have and I will make sure to answer them to the best of my knowledge asap! Thank you for reading along today!! Now ready set, go!! xoxo

Ikea Sidebar Makeover

Hello Friends!

As some of you may know, before we started this WordPress blog we had a Blogspot one where we shared a couple of posts before switching over.  As promised, we are excited to share with you our Ikea Norden sideboard makeover!  The post below is copied over from our old blog, so pictures are dated back to about a year ago and since then Ikea has unfortunately discontinued this particular item.  However, they do have a new style that comes in an extendable table and a few other products in their Norden series but even if you decide to not go with anything from this series, Ikea has many products made out of solid birch, sealed with clear acrylic lacquer like this one so you can use these steps for any of them!

I hope you have success remaking some pieces using these simple steps! If you do, tag us on Instagram @kindredvintage, we would love to see them!

Our home and our sideboard as it is today:

Now here is a look back at our Ikea sideboard makeover, and our home a year ago:

kindred vintage ikea norden sideboard makeover

I am in love with our IKEA Norden sideboard makeover! I am so pleased with the way it turned out and how it went from any ordinary to a piece of Ikea furniture to one with loads of character and charm.

kindred vintage ikea norden sideboard makeover

Today I am going to share with you my latest DIY project that transformed our Ikea sideboard from ordinary to rustic chic and I love the way it turned out.

kindred vintage ikea norden sideboard makeover

BEFORE:

kindred vintage ikea norden sideboard makeover
The process was fun and easy and can be done on any raw wood surface. If you are looking to recreate something similar just follow these simple steps and have fun!

kindred vintage ikea norden sideboard makeover

Supplies you will need:
1. Hand sander
2. Miniwax wood stain in dark walnut finish
4. Varthane weathered gray stain
5. Cotton rag to apply stain
6. Paper towels
7. Clear wood wax
8. Metal L brackets
9. Screw driver
LET’S GET STARTED:
Step 1-
Sand down wood to get off any old stain or finish in order to make the surface smooth.

Step 2-
Apply dark walnut stain with your cotton rag making sure to coat the entire surface. Wipe off excess with paper towels. Wait two to three minutes for stain to settle in. Then wipe down sideboard with a rag to take off any access stain.

Step 3-
Apply weathered gray stain with your rag, on top of the dark walnut stain you just applied. As little or as much as you would like, depending on how weathered of a look you are going for. When you have achieved your preferred look, let the stain dry for a few hours before waxing.

Step 4-
Once the stain has completely dried apply a liberal amount of clear wax to the sideboard.

Step 5-
Screw on L brackets to the corners of the table top to add some decorative flair.

Step 6-
ENJOY!!

Our daughter’s room – Mini Makeover

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

We don’t live in Seattle but from the looks of our weather these past couple days you would think we did. As I was photographing our oldest daughter’s room for this mini makeover reveal, all inspired by her new cast iron bed frame, the sky was heavy with light clouds, sprinkles of rain, fog and overall early Spring mist. I actually love that weather, for some reason it triggers memories in my mind of Easter as a child. So to celebrate the changing season, I opened the windows to let the thick smell of damp Spring air fill the room. Although the photos are not as bright as I would prefer, the memories of this day are happy ones and that sets the mood for success in my book!!

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

Okay so enough of my blabbing about the weather. 😉 What you really would like to hear about is this room, am I right?! So here we go, although I only made a few changes in here I feel as though they have a huge impact on the room and I am so pleased with the way it turned out.

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

Inspiration sprung for the change while looking at pictures of this room from our holiday house walk that were taken this past December. Although I loved the space, in my opinion there was something that just wasn’t working and that was the bed. The wooden frame we had in here is part of a set that we purchased prior to owning our home. I envisioned both girls sharing a room, with these two matching beds, a look that I adore. However, after moving in, each of our daughters ended up getting rooms of their own, so therefore we only used one of the matching beds and stored the other. Although the beds are great, when paired with the wallpapered accent wall the area just felt a little crowded to me. So the search for a new bed frame was on and I was excited!

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

I knew I wanted a bed frame that was a little less “heavy” for the space. One that complimented the wall behind it, instead of competing for its attention. I was really drawn to this one from The Land of Nod, because it had the simple look I was craving but couldn’t bring myself to pay close to $400 for it.

Here’s a closer look at the thrifted bed I found.  As soon as I laid eyes on it, it was love at first sight!

FullSizeRender

The cool thing about the app is that it provides you with a tighter, more intimate search simply by plugging in your town and the distance you would like to travel. Unlike some of the other buying and selling sites that give you a wide travel range based on a much larger metro area. Also, I love the ability to chat directly to the seller through the app itself rather than having to coordinate my already too full inbox.

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

As many of you know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE thrifting. Finding that perfectly imperfect piece to fix up and use for myself or resell. And half of the thrill for me is the search! I find close to half of my stuff online, and nothing is worse than finding out that that perfect piece is hours away based on the broad search location!

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

I am loving the way the room looks with the new to us vintage bed! I also am pretty smitten over these beautiful flowers I moved into this room from the playroom downstairs! They are hand made by such a sweet shop named Fanciful Designs, and I will be sure to share more on them later!

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

So in love with the tiny details of the space. They truly reflect my daughter’s personality and I love that she loves her little getaway.  More on this gorgeous book later!

KindredVintageCo - Bedroom Mini-Makeover

Thank you all for stopping by today. I would love to hear what you think of the changes to the room?! Also, let me know if you find a perfectly imperfect vintage gem of your own!

Have a beautiful Day,

xo Susan

Better Homes & Gardens

Better-Homes-and-Garden-Christmas-FavoriteLast week was a bit crazy for us. Between the whirlwind of scary emotions that went along with my Father being in the hospital, which I am so happy and blessed to report he is doing much better, thank you for your prayers, there was a moment of bright light that warmed my heart and brought some joy into my world.

daggett-christmas-2015_TSP-145159

That moment was when I received a notification from a talented blogger whom I greatly admire, Jen over at City Farmhouse. It took my breath away when I read that she had featured our home over at Better Homes & Gardens as part of her BHG Style Spotter, Favorite Holiday Ideas!

You can read the entire article here! She included so many gorgeous, inspirational homes decked out for Christmas and such great ideas for putting the merry into your own home this season! Definitely worth checking out for yourself!

The Perfect Holiday Centerpiece

When setting our Christmas table for our Holiday Housewalk Tour I knew I wanted to keep things fairly simple.  We had just recently added these beautiful velvet curtains from Anthropologie so I was still getting used to all the vibrant color they brought to the space.  Now that they have been up a couple weeks words cannot express how much I LOVE them! Not only do these curtains cozy up the entire room, but the quality of the velvet is exceptional and the color is unreal! I couldn’t have picked a more fitting color for our home! The embroidered pattern compliments our Crate and Barrel rug without competing with it and that makes me one happy camper!

Unfortunately, the curtains are discontinued but here are a pair of velvet ones Anthropolgie currently has in stock.
kindred vintage + painted fox curated collection

Another detail that was a must have when setting this year’s table was this gorgeous wooden horse from our Kindred Vintage + Painted Fox curated collection. Since our table is vintage farmhouse style, it is very narrow and pretty long which makes decorating with centerpieces somewhat of a challenge. When Old Getty arrived from Painted Fox she was striking and her stature stood nice and tall without taking up too much space. As soon as I tried her on the table and I knew she was the perfect addition to our Christmas table! Some roses and eucalyptus down the center of the table, an old vintage steel bucket stuffed with roses and a small brass canister to hold the remaining eucalyptus finished off the look. The entire tablescape complimented the curtains beautifully including the cherished, antique silverware that was passed down to me from my mother.

Here is an up close look at this pretty lady. Isn’t she darling?kindred vintage + painted fox curated collection

Old Getty is seriously one of my favorite pieces from the collection, you can see more about her here! The decorating opportunities with this gal are endless! She would be the perfect addition to any holiday home, perhaps maybe even your own? 😉

Holiday HouseWalk 2015

Welcome friends!

As always, I wish I could reach through the computer screen and hug each and every one of you for taking time out of your day to visit this little space of ours on the web! If I could, I would have loved to have you over face to face for a coffee (or a mimosa) 😉 but since that doesn’t seem to be all that realistic, I hope you’ll grab a hot cup of joe’, a warm blanket and make yourself cozy as you visit our Christmas home tour! Just a warning, I like to “talk” a lot so I mean it when I say get nice and comfy. 🙂

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

For starters, I am not sure if there are words to accurately describe just how thrilled I am to be a part of Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday HouseWalk this year! Way back when before I even dreamt up that I, in fact would be sharing my love for decorating, styling and interior design I would sit goggly eyed at my computer admiring and adoring Jennifer’s gorgeous holiday house walk and all of the talented bloggers that were a part of it. Fast forward to today and here I am! Not only do I get the opportunity to be a part of this incredible tour, held by the insanely talented Jennifer Rizzo herself, follow the full tour from the beginning here, but I am sandwiched in-between the first blog I have ever fallen head over heels for (and still am!), written by the beautiful soul, Jennifer over at Dear Lille and another insanely talented lady who inspires me with every post, Jennifer over at City Farmhouse! Look at that, it’s a big ol’ Jennifer inspiration fest and I am so honored to be cozied up right between the beautiful hearts and homes they share!

Speaking of which, if you haven’t already done so, please make sure to head on over to Dear Lillie’s beautiful home. It is gorgeous and decorated to the nines! There is no doubt in my mind that you will fall head over heels for Jennifer’s charming home the same way I did!

holiday housewalk Dear Lillie 5 2015.jpg

I would also like to add that a majority of these photos are taken by some of the very best photographers I know!! Truly and honestly from the bottom of my heart I would recommend T & S Hughes photography to anyone! I have no clue how I got so very blessed to call Sharon and Tony family but I know that God has a plan and them being a part of the Kindred Vintage Co’s story is just one of them.

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

The day
Sharon and Tony came over to photograph our home for the Holiday HouseWalk I was getting out of the shower and much to my surprise discovered that our entire neighborhood’s power had gone out due to the heavy snowfall outside. Just great, wet hair and no lights on the trees, that’s all I needed. Let’s just say some stress-tears were shed.  But with my husband, mother, daughters and Sharon, Tony and their baby Austin by my side I put on a smile and thanked God for the people around me, and that was my focus for the shoot! So all photos with lighting were done by yours truly. (Not that you wouldn’t have figured it out, haha!!) Okay, enough babbling, here we go!!

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

This year I was really looking forward to decking the halls in our new home. And by new home, allow me to clarify, we were in fact here last year, and that was our first official Christmas here in our new house but we were only here for three months prior. So although beautiful and cherished, Christmas in our place felt a bit like getting to know an unfamiliar acquaintance as opposed to spending time with an old friend. This year I can assure you, these walls have been well discovered, lived in and loved on and that makes me one happy lady! *I should add in a small note here; although we’ve lived here a year, there are still some major renovations taking place. I will touch on them more throughout the tour, but just in case you are curious early on, yes, we do have a kitchen – it is just currently covered in plastic wrap since our remodel is just wrapping up and our floors were refinished… yesterday! haha!

A Kindred Vintage ChristmasLets start with the front entry. Although we still haven’t quite figured out how we want to permanently decorate this space, I do however know one thing for sure and that this that I adore this darling painting by Deann Art! It is amongst one of my favorite things. What I love most about it is that you can use it for any season. In the summer its reminds me of the true definition of a blossoming cotton field.  Then in those frigid Chicagoland winter months the cotton can easily appear as snow in a vast field. The artwork just brings me such genuine joy and I am so honored to have it in our home!

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

Next room you enter in our home is our living room. I love this room so much so that I put our main tree in here. If you have followed me for the past year you may realize that the furniture was switched up between this room and our sunroom. I just couldn’t help it! I had a vision for where each tree should sit and therefore we had to change things up a bit. 😉 The overall feel and vibe I hoped to achieve for our home this Chrsitmas was a mix of everything our home currently is. The vintage, bohemian, “Anthropologie” meets early 1900’s glam, meets rustic, farmhouse, cabin in the woods are all the vibes of our home so it was important for me to play off of those elements. Mixing natural elements, like the driftwood we found on a boating trip, with vintage ones such as the chandelier crystals we hung from our Christmas tree, truly tied this space together.

In this room we also added the faux fur tree skirt from Homegoods. I just love the warmth and texture that fur brings to a space, especially during the cold months! The small trees on the mantel and the rug is from there as well. The twinkle lights on the mantel and the fur letters on the stockings are Target! The gorgeous knitted stockings are from Anthropologie last year and they have held up great!

This sign from House of Belonging lettered by Aedriel most definitely pulls the entire room together and serves as jewelry for our mantel!! It couldn’t be more perfect for the space! Layering the Painted Fox antlers on the driftwood was a last minute decision that I am so very pleased with!

These Angel wings are also from our Kindred Vintage Curated Collection over at Painted Fox. They have been a huge hit!

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Three French Hens Christmas Market a couple towns over and as soon as I spotted this vintage mail organizer I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for this Christmas, an advent calendar! Yes, an advent calendar but not just any old calendar, this one would hold an ornament for the girls’ to pick and place on the tree for each day of December leading up until Jesus’ big birthday celebration on December 25th!

They are so excited to get started on it tomorrow!

Next we head into the sunroom and I adore this room not only for the bright, vibrant light it gives off but because when we moved into out house it was nothing but an abandoned, unloved, unused room that we made over into one of our favorites!
Sweet drummer boy pillow is by Dear Lillie.

The tree in this room is gorgeous and it definitely makes a statement since you see it front and center at the end of our open concept home. One of my very favorite elements about this tree is the gold and silver star garland we added from Mrs Morris Made! Isn’t it darling?!

Moving into the room in our home that makes me feel like a princess, our beloved dining room! As most of you know, this room is by far my favorite. I decorated with some subtle pops of red on the tree, some more natural elements like winter roses and fresh eucalyptus, my mother’s vintage silver, and then added some new velvet curtains from Anthropologie and this room was set! Little miss Old Getty the horse finished off the space with an unexpected pop of charm and all over this room gives me those warm, cozy, wintery feelings!

A Kindred Vintage Christmas

We just completed this darling space a few weeks ago and it couldn’t have turned out more “Lorelei” than it did! It is fantastic! The Christmas elements added take the sweetness to a whole new level! This time of year is the best!

Beautiful deer art is from Minted and this adorable Christmas deer pillow is from Live Sweet Shop.

Last but not least we added a new chandelier, side tables and a couple touches of Christmas to our newly wallpapered bedroom. This is a very small room, with a very large bed, haha but adding these tweaks to the room has totally transformed it and I am in love with it now!!

Hello there!

I am so excited this evening for so many reasons and one of those reasons being, the fact that you are here, reading this post and joining us on our journey! Your friendship and support means more to me than you know. I am so thrilled to finally have a website to call our own! It has been in the works for a very long time!  And by “the works” I should say, I’ve been battling the fears and dreams of taking that next step for quite some time and I am so glad to say that dreams came out ahead. 🙂

I cannot express how thrilled, honored and blessed I am to not only launch our website tonight but to do so by kicking off the KindredVintageCo & Painted Fox Curated Collection! If you have not yet been introduced to this online shop be prepared to be wowed! Seriously ladies, Painted Fox has the cutest home decor! Perfect for your home or for your friend’s, after all Christmas is just around the corner. (wink, wink)

IMG_3031I will be sharing some of my very favorite Painted Fox finds with you over the next two weeks starting with this beautiful six drawer farmhouse organizer! When this rustic beauty arrived I was taken back by how unique and charming it was. I just love the rustic chippy paint, paired with the fun and vibrant color and of course the functionality of the six drawers! Cute and functional? I’ll take it! I mean really, when’s the last time you got excited to get organized?! Well, with this gem I can guarantee you will soon. 🙂

I decided to use our farmhouse organizer in the girls’ playroom since they use paper around here more than anyone else, actually more than anyone else I’ve ever known, ever. 😉 They are always letting their little imaginations run wild by drawing and painting and this little beauty is perfect for holding their supplies and pretty masterpieces! As their momma, anything I can do to encourage creative play makes me one happy lady!

IMG_3030

I cannot wait to share more of my Painted Fox favorites with you! If you love farmhouse-chic you must check this boutique out. As a huge bonus, Christine & Jen and their team are simply wonderful! Like I said before, it is a blessing to get to work along side such talented people. There’s not a price tag you can put on loving what you do alongside people who inspire and encourage you to grow. Thank you Christine and Jen for doing just that.

And psst… for those of you who have been wondering where that darling wallpaper went that I previewed a couple months back on instagram, the secrets out. 🙂 I will be sharing much more about this space soon, including that adorable “wander” banner by Little Dovie, but for now, here’s this sweet sneak peek! Have a wonderful night!
